South Australia has the most archaic sex work laws in Australia and as a result, sex workers are at three times the risk of experiencing violent behaviour. In recent years we’ve seen a spike in the number of raids, cautions and arrests conducted by South Australia Police. This puts sex workers at even further risk!
We need to modernise SA’s sex work laws to allow sex workers to access their basic human and workers rights. Sex work is work and it is time for SA to catch-up and start treating the industry like any other industry.
The Sex Industry Decrim Action Committee (SIDAC) are a group of sex workers, allies, unionist, human rights, community and health organisations, Members of Parliament, women’s’ rights organisations and legal services representatives and as a completely volunteer committee we rely on the generosity of the community to continue the campaign for sex workers rights in SA.
